SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities was established in 1996. It is the first private university in Poland. The university has been ranked by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as the leading higher education institution offering Social Sciences programs in Poland.

The faculty includes close to 1,000 academic teachers. Most of them are not only academic lecturers, but also experienced practitioners in their respective disciplines.
Since its inception, SWPS University has been investing in research and development. Annually, it conducts over 300 research projects, in 20 research centers and laboratories. The University is the 5th biggest beneficiary of research grants awarded by the National Science Center.

SWPS University, housed in the historic building of the High Voltage Apparatus and Devices Factory built in the 1920s, is located in the Praga District of Warsaw. Praga is one of the most iconic parts of the city. It is an area with rich history of working class neighbourhoods, big manufacturing companies and industrial architecture. It is famous for its adversity-defying character, pride, and artistic flair.
The 25,000 m2 modern campus of SWPS University includes carefully renovated historical industrial buildings, which have been adapted to the current needs of the best private university in Poland. The campus offers spacious classrooms and lecture theatres, computer labs, simultaneous interpretation laboratory, and research laboratories with specialized equipment. Additionally, the campus houses the university's extensive library and a unique East Asia Collection that hold a variety of books, periodicals, audio-visual and study materials.
The Wrocław Campus of SWPS University is situated in a renovated mid-century industrial building, which used to house a manufacturing plant that produced first Polish computers and other electronic equipment from the 1960s to early 2000s. Today, the renovated 8,500 m2 building provides modern and generous spaces with preserved industrial character.
The Campus facilities include: classrooms and lecture theatres with audiovisual equipment, computer labs, a professional photography studio, professional neuropsychology lab for advanced research and a well equipped fitness studio.
The Poznań Campus of SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities is located near the Citadel and the Old Town Square. The architecture of the building was inspired by the redoubt which, together with the St. Adalbert of Prague Fort, was a part of the 19th century fortifications of the city. Modern spaces of the Campus provide a perfect backdrop for display of art, created by world-renowned Polish contemporary artists, including Magdalena Abakanowicz - sculptor, and fiber artist, Tadeusz Kantor - painter, assemblage artist, set designer and theatre director, Jerzy Nowosielski - painter, graphic artist, set designer, and illustrator, and others. Students have access to modern multimedia classrooms, a psychophysiological laboratory and a fully equipped gym.
The recently built Campus of SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Katowice opened its doors in 2014. The campus is situated in a peaceful area, surrounded by urban green spaces. Its modern industrial architecture allows for generous and airy spaces ideal for learning, working, and socializing.
Students have access to multimedia classrooms, and well-equipped computer labs, as well as comfortable student zones perfect for studying, relaxing and working on group projects.
The Sopot Campus of SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities is located in a picturesque seaside resort on the Baltic Sea. It neighbours a historic Hipodrom - a horse racing track built in the 19th century, and a station of the local railway line that connects the Tri-city of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot. The historic building of the Sopot Campus houses several classrooms, lecture halls, computer labs and a professional laboratory for conducting psychological research. Students have access to a cosy bistro and can relax and work in a specially dedicated Student Zone. There is also a kids' corner, where students and faculty can leave their children under the supervision of qualified personnel, while they attend or teach classes.
